Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kham, together with Chief Minister of Kayah State U Khin Maung Oo, deputy ministers U Tin Oo Lwin, Dr Win Myint, U Htin Aung and Dr Sai Kyaw Ohn and departmental officials, left Yangon for Thailand to pay an official visit on Wednesday morning.
The vice president and party were seen off at the airport by Chief Minister of Yangon Region U Myint Swe and wife, region ministers, Ambassador of Thailand to Myanmar Mr Pisanu Suvanajata and officials.
On arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, the vice president and party were welcomed by Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Win Maung, Military Attaché Brig-Gen Chit Swe and staff.
Then, the vice president met cordially with Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at the government guest house in Bangkok.
They frankly discussed promotion of diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries, education, health, opening border gates, affairs of Myanmar migrant workers and tourism before having lunch at the Dusit Thani Hotel.
In the afternoon, the vice president and party visited Wat Paknam Monsatery in Phasi Charoen and paid homage to the presiding monk and donated offertories to him.
In the evening, the vice president met with families of Myanmar Embassy and students at the house of the ambassador and presented gifts to them.
