YANGON Expo and Thai Products Fair was launched on Friday, 21 September, at Tatmadaw Exhibition Hall in Yangon, with the aim of promoting bilateral relations and trade between Myanmar and Thailand.
During the four-day expo, a wide variety of commodities from international countries, including computers and related accessories, electronic components, fashion products, medicine and furniture, are being displayed for sale through over 150 booths, between 9 am and 6 pm daily.
The trade fair will last until 24 September, showcasing electrical devices, clothing, medicine and related products used in agriculture and livestock industry, construction equipment, kitchen utensils, foodstuff and other miscellaneous items.
Thailand is one of the top investors and partner trading countries of Myanmar. In its trade report, the Ministry of Commerce stated that Myanmar imported Thai products valued at over US$800 million in the first four months of the present six-month financial period.
According to the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, Thailand’s new investment in Myanmar reached US$45.5 million at the end of this August. It’s investment in Myanmar in the previous 2017-2018 fiscal year was $123 million in total.—Ko Htet
