YU seal AFC victory, advance to next round

Yangon United secured a 2-1 win over Brunei Club DPMM in the ASEAN Zone Qualifiers for the 2023-2024 AFC Cup at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon yesterday.
Although Yangon United played at home, they struggled and only won with late goals to advance to the next round. Yangon United played with advantages, but it is difficult to score a goal due to the weakness of the attack.
Yangon United played with key players, including three foreign players, and played an open attack from the start. Yangon’s attack is unpredictable as the opposing team made fabulous blocking. The DPMM goalkeeper saved Sylla and David Htan’s kicks as well. In the first half, the DPMM team managed to make some goal threats, but after the first half, it was a scoreless draw.
In the second half, the Yangon team increased their attacking power and had more opportunities to score.
Yangon missed some more chances as DPMM’s goalkeeper showed his best form.
Fashek Naw took the lead for the DPMM team with a long shot at 77 minutes, but one minute later, Valencia scored a header to equalize for team Yangon. Subsequently, the Yangon team was able to put more pressure, and Zaw Win Thein scored the winning goal near the end of the match.
