MLCA sends construction materials to storm-affected schools in Rakhine State

The Myanmar Licensed Contractors Association-MLCA arranged transport of construction materials by cargo ship from Bo Aung Kyaw Port of Yangon on 27 May, aimed at renovating schools and universities in storm-affected Rakhine State.
“The association managed sending of construction materials such as corrugated iron sheets and hollow iron pipes weighing more than 20 tonnes and roofing accessories to Rakhine State so as to construct buildings. It is scheduled that these construction materials will be used in renovation of universities and schools,” said U Tin Naing, joint-secretary-1 of the association.
He continued to say that more plans are underway to send CI sheets and hollow pipes donated by well-wishers to the storm-affected areas.
According to the follow-up information, the association also managed transport of 600 visses of palm oil and 50 visses of groundnut to be used in cooking meals for people from four corners.
With regard to sympathizing with the storm-hit people in Rakhine State, the MLCA invited Myanmar Licensed Contractors Public Co Ltd and MLCA members from regions and states as well as religious partnership organizations from 17 to 22 May and formed necessary committees. Reportedly, the Oxygen Donors & Volunteer Group with participation of members from MLCA and associates has been sending lunch for 10,000 storm-affected people daily since 24 May. — Htun Htun/TTA
