Checking of cargo blocks traffic at Muse border trade post

Severe traffic congestion at the 105th mile commodity trade zone in Muse Township, northern Shan State, was caused by the inspection of vehicles loaded with maize and watermelons heading to China. The cargo trucks on the Myanmar side waited for a week to reach their destinations due to the traffic congestion, sources said.
The small number of traffic police have not been able to control the traffic congestion on a daily basis but they are now closely cooperating with local police and auxiliary fire brigade members as part of their daily work. A similar situation sometimes occurs at the 16th mile station,
forcing vehicles to wait between three to five hours daily.–Htay Myint Maung
