Denmark-Myanmar sustainable coastal fisheries project workshop was held at Horizon Lake View Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday. The workshop was jointly held by Denmark and Myanmar ministry of agriculture, livestock and irrigation.
At the workshop, Dr. Aung Thu, Union minister for agriculture, livestock and irrigation, said that the fishery sector is one of the main business sectors for locals.
“We need to discuss the management of the coastal fisheries”, Dr. Aung Thu said. “For the development of the fisheries sector, we need to adopt policies for social development of fishermen and organisations. “The government, private businesses, expert fishermen and public need to co-operate in abidance by the rules and regulations in fishing and protect the reproduction habit of fish for sustainable development of the water and land resources as well as use the legal correct, fishing ways.”
Mr. Peter Kysholt Hansen, ambassador of Denmark, explained that the aims and objectives, as well as the results were achieved in the implementation of the project.
