Double Academy awardee actor/director Thiha Tin Soe dies of heart attack

Two-time Academy Award-winning actor and director Thiha Tin Soe died of a heart attack on 21 February.
The 55-year-old actor died on the way to Sanpya hospital in Thingangyun Township.
“Academy Award-winning actor Ko Thiha Tin Soe died of a heart attack today and I express my deepest condolences to your family. Go ahead Ko Thiha… I have had no chance to meet you again despite our appointment. Rest in peace… I share my merits for every good deed I have done… Say Sardu, Ako…” actor Wailu Kyaw posted on his social network.
“55-year old director and actor Thiha Tin Soe died at Thingangyun hospital on 21 February. He won academy awards for director and main actor with the Ngaye Thar movie in 2000. Rest in peace, actor Thiha Tin Soe,” the vice-president-1 of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization posted on his Facebook.
Actor Thiha Tin Soe is famous for his unique character in movies featuring revolution against the colonialists. He won the best director award and best actor award in 2000 for the Ngaye Thar movie.
His wife academy-award winner actress Zin Mar Oo died of lung cancer on 11 March 2021 and his brother director Nyarna Tin Soe also die of a heart attack on 1 November 2022. —TWA/KTZH
