Illegal timbers, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

Customs on-duty teams supervised by the Customs Department seized a Hyundai Kmefg tractor head with a trailer (estimated value of K45 million), travelling from Myawady to Yangon, carrying three kinds of screen valued at K10.2 million, including 500 kilogrammes of plastic mosquito nets that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID), at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint on 3 December. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A combined team managed by the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force captured a total of 2.917 tonnes of illegal hardwood worth K1,458,900 in Bago district and a total of 1.348 tonnes of other illegal timbers worth K202,200 in Toungoo district. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Three arrests were made on 3 and 4 December, with an estimated value of K56,861,100, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
