Mathoe robes offered to Buddha images at ancient pagodas in Yangon

On the fullmoon day of Tazaungmone which falls on 6 November today, a ceremony to offer Mathoe robes to Buddha images was held at Buddha images in four prayers of Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon.
Members of the pagoda board of trustees donated meals to the pagoda at the prayer hall on its platform.
A similar ceremony was held at Botahtaung Pagoda. Officials donated Mathoe robes to the Buddha images of the pagoda and shared merits to all living things.
The Mathoe robe weaving contest was held at Kaba Aye Pagoda on 5 November night, and the robes were offered to seven Buddha images on the platform of the pagoda.
Shwephonepwint Pagoda board of trustees in Pazundaung Township also organized the Mathoe robe weaving contest and offering ceremony on Thursday.
Devotees and pilgrims visited religious buildings and pagodas in Yangon the whole day and evening. The local people served all visitors from various parts of the city with refreshments.
At night, offices, residences and buildings were illuminated with multi-coloured lights.
