Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan for National Reconciliation in Myanmar and Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, in Bayinnaung Guest House in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, they openly exchanged views on support from Japan in Myanmar’s peace process, the Tatmadaw’s cooperation with religious bodies and other relevant organizations in Kachin State to return displaced people in IDP camps back to their homes and Japan’s support in regional development, Japan’s participation in regional development and humanitarian aid in Rakhine State, the government and Tatmadaw’s efforts to resolve issues in Buthidaung and Maungtaw townships and Japan’s support in portraying the true situation to the international community, the Tatmadaw’s efforts in implementing political stability and security throughout the country, and Japan’s ongoing plans to invest in factories and workshops in Myanmar to create employment opportunities, according to information released by the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services. —MNA (Translated by ZHO)
