The opening ceremony of the Shan State Ethnic Community and Vocational Training Centre was organized to mark the 77th Anniversary of Shan State Day, which will fall on 7 February, in Ayethaya of Taunggyi Township yesterday.
It was attended by State Administration Council members Dr Ba Shwe and Khun San Lwin, Union Ministers U Min Thein Zan, Dr Soe Win, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, Minister Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar Dr Zheng Zhihong, Deputy Ministers Dr Zaw Myint, Dr Aye Tun and U Zaw Aye Maung, relevant officials of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, vice-chair of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation National Coordination Unit (Myanmar), invitees and ethnic people.
After the opening procedures, SAC Member Dr Ba Shwe talked about the centre that was established using the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund and State budget, exchange of ethnic literature, dialogue, artworks and culture and vocational training courses to be provided at the centre aiming at promoting the socioeconomic status of locals in Shan State.
Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung then highlighted the socioeconomic development programmes of the ministry and the benefits of establishing such a vocational training centre.
After the ceremony, the SAC members, Union ministers and guests inspected the four-storey building and met the trainers and trainees of the motorcycle maintenance course. — MNA/KTZH
