Talks on amendment bill on the National Education Law was held at the main hall of Yangon Institute of Economics on Friday morning.
Present were Rector Dr Daw Khin Naing Oo, Pro-rector Dr Tun Aung, professors (heads of department), professors, faculty members and students.
The rector invited advice on the amendment bill, especially in areas like management, curriculum, options for students and laws concerning faculty member, saying that advice from the talks would be submitted to higher authorities.
Similar talks on the amendment bill was held at Yangon University of Education in Kamayut in the afternoon.
Dr Soe Than of Teaching Methodology Department invited participants to engage in discussions and students took part in the discussions.
Student participants at the talks at the both institutes welcomed the talks. Maung Zeyar Lwin of Yangon Institute of Economics agreed that the law should be amended and but did not want student to skip examinations for protects while Ma Ei Ei Phyo of Yangon University of Education objected to section 66 (c) of the amendment bill.
