One dies on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway

An express bus passenger died during an overnight stop while travelling from Mandalay to Yangon at the Mile Post 138 Checkpoint of the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway on 3 September.
The deceased is a man named Ko San Lwin Aung, aged 46, who lives in Nyaungpin Village of Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) Township in Yangon Region. He was missing and found dead when passengers regather to leave in the following morning.
“Travellers must stop at the assigned places at the midnight lock-down period and return to the trip at 4 am. Drivers from all the parked express buses slept on the scorching concrete road or the ground with mats and blankets. Some passengers slept on the bus and some are spending four or five hours of their time at the shops or stalls opened by the nearby villagers, waiting for departure without sleeping,” said Ko Aung Myint, a Yangon-Mandalay passenger.
The body was carried to the Ottwin Hospital with the help of the Yinkhonthan parahita (welfare) association at 6 am, and the investigation of death was opened by the relevant police station. — TWA/GNLM
