Man rewarded for handing over Pyu-era Buddha gold statue to authorities

The Mandalay Archaeology and National Museum Department yesterday honored a man for handing over a Pyu-era Buddha gold statue to the department.
U Kyaw Than unearthed the 8.1-cm high statue, weighing 69 grams, in Myittha, Kyaukse District, and presented it to the authorities on 26 November last year.
Daw Soe Soe Win, the Director of the Mandalay Archaeology and National Museum Department, presented over K 9 million to him as a reward for his honesty.
