MoHT Union Minister attends workshop on “Tourism and Institutions”, receives Eurasian Economic Commission delegation

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung attended the workshop on “Tourism and Institutions” held at the Jade Hall of the Ministry yesterday morning.
The directors-general and officials of the Ministry participated in the workshop, and officials from the Myanmar Tourism Federation and its affiliated organizations, teachers from universities/colleges and in-charges of the branches in regions/states and invitees joined the workshop online.
The Union Minister said as the international flights will be resumed from 17 April, the Ministry is working together with international and local organizations to revive the tourism sector, adding that committees are being formed to systematically implement master plans for the tourism sector development such as The Myanmar Tourism Master Plan (2013-2020). He also urged the tourism associations to work together as the private sector is very important for tourism development.
The workshop discussed topics such as the Myanmar Tourism Law, rules and regulations, orders, the formation of the committees, safety issues and future tourism development issues.
After the workshop, the Union Minister received a delegation from the Eurasian Economic Commission led by the deputy director of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Transport of Russia and discussed airline operations between the two countries, singing of an MoU on Government-Private Tourism Cooperation and Bilateral Tourism Development, to bring Russian tourists to Myanmar.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister received the Eurasian Economic Commission delegation led by the Vice-President of the Russian Association for Friendship & Cooperation with Myanmar. During the meeting, the Union Minister assured that his ministry will coordinate with relevant departments to facilitate the visit of Russian tourists to Myanmar. He also asked for assistance in opening Russian language courses and hospitality training for human resource development which is important for Myanmar’s tourism sector.
The Russian delegation also affirmed that assistance will be provided to bring more Russian tourists to Myanmar, as well as for the human resource development, adding cooperation will be continued for the development of tourism. — MNA
