Israeli experts share expertise in beekeeping project in Shan State

As part of the continuation of the Beekeeping Project which has been started in cooperation with Department of Apiculture, Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development, Embassy of Israel, Yangon and TAG International Development since 2012, two more advance training courses in Beekeeping were organized in Aungban, Kalaw Township, Shan state as of 8 December.
With the continued financial support from Livelihood and Food Security Trust Fund (LIFT), TAG International Development and Embassy of Israel brought the two advance courses in beekeeping to Shan State: “Advance Beekeeping Course” (8-12 December 2014) and “Artificial Insemination of Queen Bees Course” (8-12 December 2014) especially designed for the government officers from Department of Apiculture and private beekeepers from different states and regions in Myanmar. Nearly 50 participants attended the said courses conducted by 3 Israeli experts Dr Boris A Yakobson, Mr Yeshayahu Stern and Ms Anna Barenboim. The aim of this project is to create a potential source of income for farmers who do not own land so that it can contribute much to poverty alleviation.
The opening ceremony held in the Cooperative Association Hall in Aung Ban was honoured by the presence of Daniel Zonshine, Ambassador of Israel, Yangon, U Wai Lin Maung, Deputy Director General of Apiculture, Department of Livestock Breeding and Veterinary, township officers from LBVD, Shan State and guests from Danu and Pa-O ethnic associations in Shan State.
