Myanmar attends 5th CoP, 32nd ASEAN SOCA meetings

Myanmar attends the 5th meeting of the Working Group on Culture of Prevention (5th CoP) and the 32nd ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Socio-Cultural Community (32nd SOCA) organized by Cambodia, the current Chair of the ASEAN in 2022, on 28 and 29 March through video conferencing.
The meetings were attended by Director-General U Aung Myint, Senior Officer of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (SOCA Leader), Department of Historical Research and National Library, and delegation.
The 5th CoP meeting discussed posting the CoP’s development background for the benefit of researchers and ASEAN stakeholders, the status of the CoP’s Plan of Action, a review of the activities of the leading and co-working groups concerning the CoP, the proposal of the “Evidence of a Culture of Prevention in Action” to access the value of the CoP in accelerating the implementation of the CoP Declaration, the establishment of the Evidence Building in the ASEAN Culture of Prevention, and the publishing of the Development of Strategy Playbook-CoP.
At the 32nd SOCA meeting, the participants discussed the ongoing status of the recommendations emerged from the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Map 2025 Mid-Year Assessment Report, multi-sectoral cooperation, establishment of an inter-pillar organizational mechanism such as the ASEAN 4IR Task Force Group, implementation of the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework, to send a facts finding mission led by ASEAN officials to Timor-Leste in June regarding the application for ASEAN membership, current implementation plan of the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025, issues related to the implementation off the ASEAN Research and Development Platforms, establishment of ASEAN AID, selection of experts who will participate in the Development of Feasibility Study on the Proposed ASEAN Institute for Policy Studies, implementation of ASEAN SHIELD, activities to be carried out by the three pillars regarding High Level Task Force-HLTF, and related plans for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Pillar for 2022. — MNA
