Union Energy Minister looks into Yangon natural gas pipeline projects

Ministry of Energy Photo11 (2-3-2015)Nay Pyi Taw, 2 Feb— Union Minister of Energy U Zeyar Aung inspected natural gas pipeline construction projects in Yangon and suburban areas Monday.
The minister first arrived at Ywama natural gas control and distribution station where a nitrogen removal unit is under construction. Officials from Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise explained the project, with instruction of the minister to have less environmental impacts on environment.
The minister and party then inspected the construction of a 35-mile long and 30-inche in diametre natural gas pipeline of Ywama-Hlawga-Thakayta route in Dagon Myothit (East) Township by using road boring machines, and instructed for scrutinizing compensation for farmland seizures along the project.
The project started in October 1, 2014 and it has completed 38 percent on February 27, 2015, with the targeted period at the end of March. Upon the completion of project, more natural gas will be delivered to power stations and industries in Yangon.
On Sunday, U Zeyar Aung also viewed construction of natural gas filling station at Hmawby Township. It will become the third stations for the passenger buses which are operating from Yangon to Bago and Taikkyi townships.—MNA
